A Celebration of Family

Whether you are welcoming a new baby, celebrating an adoption, blending families together, or simply wanting to gather the people you love most around your child, a naming ceremony offers the chance to create something deeply personal and meaningful.

A naming ceremony is a lovely way to welcome a child into the family and celebrate the people who will help shape their life as they grow.

As an independent celebrant based in South West London, I create warm, relaxed and completely bespoke naming ceremonies across London, Surrey and beyond. Some families choose promises, readings or symbolic rituals, while others prefer something simple, joyful and informal. There really is no set formula — which is often exactly what makes these ceremonies so special.

The atmosphere is usually full of love, laughter, family, small children wandering off unexpectedly, and those wonderfully chaotic moments that somehow end up being the most memorable part of the day.

At its heart, a naming ceremony is simply about celebrating family, connection and the people who will walk alongside your child throughout their life.

Things People Ask Me

“What actually is a naming ceremony?”

At its heart, it’s a personal, non-religious ceremony celebrating a child and the family and friends surrounding them with love and support.

“Do naming ceremonies have to be formal?”

Not at all. Most are relaxed, joyful and wonderfully informal — more of a meaningful family gathering than anything overly traditional or structured.

“Can grandparents, siblings and friends be involved?”

Absolutely. Naming ceremonies are wonderfully inclusive and there are lots of lovely ways to involve the important people in your child’s life — from readings and promises to guideparent roles and symbolic rituals.

"I am truly blessed to have met Nic who was not only our fabulous celebrant for my girls’ naming day but also now a great friend. She spoke so beautifully at our ceremony and helped structure a unique event which resulted in such a beautiful day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to help with your special day."  Rose
